Benefits Accountant & Compliance Officer

The University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia's largest private employer, seeks a seasoned benefits professional to join our HR team as a Benefits Accountant & Compliance Officer.

The selected candidate will liaison with external and internal auditors & IRS agents in audit of all employee benefit programs; liaison with external and internal counsel on legislative developments affecting employee benefits & their effect on University's programs; assist in analysis of employee benefit plan expenses & utilization figures as well as cost impact of plan revisions & enhancements mandated by legislation or competitive factors; prepare Forms 5500 & Summary Annual Reports for all programs; prepare annual IRS 401(m) nondiscrimination testing for Tax-Deferred Retirement Plan; file PBGC-1 Form & reconcile participant counts with auditors' reports to form basis for premium payments; assist in review of Summary Plan Descriptions & plan documents to assure compliance with applicable regulations; and assist in monitoring maximum contributions for Tax-Deferred Retirement Plan.

All candidates must have:
 BA/BS or equivalent degree with major in Accounting;
 3 to 5 years experience in audit & financial management of employee benefit programs;
 Extensive knowledge of employee benefits regulations;
 Demonstrated analytical skills;
 Excellent verbal & written communication skills;
 Ability to work independently & prioritize multiple projects;
 Ability to work within complex organizational environment & with individuals of all levels; and
 Proficiency with Microsoft Windows & database applications.
